I’m happy to announce that I’ve recently joined the Citrine Ambassador Program! I’ve been interacting online with the ladies from Citrine Beauty Bar for years, and had the pleasure of meeting some of them in person at A Night for Green Beauty in 2014 (how can that be so long ago already?). I’m really excited for what this collaboration will bring and I hope you will be too. So, what this means for you: a 10% code you can use at all times (JADEH10), and these posts will typically have a preset prompt and the focus will be on products from Citrine. Usual chattiness and honest opinion still included.
This gift guide is for you late birds. It’s an indulgent set of products that are some of my favorites, that I think could also bring joy to some of your loved ones (or to yourself, if you decide to keep some). Continue reading Citrine Beauty Bar Gift Guide
If you’ve been reading Nephriticus for a while, you’ll know that YÜLI is one of my favorite brands. Yun, one of the co-founders of YÜLI who formulates the products, is super qualified and experienced. The products have so much great research behind them. I respect the one year (or two) wait for Ambrosia Beauty Nectar or Harmony Body Oil being out of stock due to ingredient restrictions, because I think it says so much about their integrity and dedication to serious quality in their craft.
I’ll reign in the fangirling, so here are the details. If your order is $200 and under, you get 10% off with code HOLIDAY10. If your order is above $200, you get 15% off with code HOLIDAY15. In addition, make sure to request a sample of Ambrosia for any order over $150. Good news: the travel-sized version of Halcyon is back as well as Harmony. If you’re ready to shop and have your wishlist ready, head on over here.
But, if you’re not sure what to get or need some tie-breaking, allow me to make some suggestions.
Remember a couple posts back when I dropped by Washington for an internship interview (and a cheeky facial at Gressa Skin)? Well, I got to go back for the entire summer–the coldest summer I have ever experienced (I am a California girl after all).
Since my last trip was a rather whirlwind one, I wasn’t able to visit all the places I wanted to. So this time I booked a facial for myself with Jordan Samuel Skin weeks before I even arrived in the sleepless city.
If you’ve been around and about Nephriticus, you may have read about my great coconut oil breakout of 2012 and my road to recovery (thank you YÜLI Cell Perfecto PM). You’ve probably seen me mention the rms ‘un’ cover-up and Kjaer Weis foundation, two well-loved foundations in #greenbeauty with lots of coconut oil, from time to time but never in full-out posts.
I really thought coconut oil was an enemy of my skin for some time, despite its vast array of antibacterial, antifungal, anti-all the things properties. I sometimes tend to break out easily in response to stress, diet, germs, etc. and in the past, not having coconut oil in my life did less harm than having coconut oil in my life. How in the world this happened I have no clue, but I was editing a new video when I found this (fully edited) video that I filmed last summer about the expired skincare and bodycare in my arsenal. Better late than never, I suppose. It’s a long one (as usual), I talk about why I couldn’t finish products (or why I didn’t want to finish them), and I hope you enjoy! Check it out on YouTube for the full info section. xx
This post is sponsored by Follain. As Follain was one of the first green beauty shops I visited in person (and served as the site of the first time I met someone in the flesh who I got to know online through green beauty, looking at you @ecochicbeauty!), I am super excited to be partnering with them on a (hopefully) monthly basis. I am being compensated in credit at Follain, but the only difference is that these posts will typically have a preset prompt and most of the focus will be on products from Follain. Usual chattiness and honest opinion still included.
As a full-time student in graduate school, it is easy to let self-care go by the wayside. I’ll get caught up in fixing a bug in a coding assignment, and all of a sudden, it’ll be 1am–and I’m still wearing the makeup I put on at 9am.
At that point, there’s nothing I’d want more to do than to wash off my face and crawl into bed, but just because it’s late, just because I’m tired, and just because I’m a little short on time–it doesn’t mean I can’t love on myself a bit. Here are two parts of my existing routine to which I am adding extra pamper: Continue reading Two Ways I’m Upping the Pamper in My Routine
Howdy, howdy. Some expired makeup coming at you today from this lovely Spring. It’s a mixed bag of loves, likes, mehs, and things that just did not work out for me. Click play above to start watching or head on over to YouTube to see the full information box in its glory (search “nephriticus”). If you’ve tried any of the products mentioned, I would love to hear your thoughts! xx
Hello all! One of my favorite green beauties who I read regularly and I have collaborated to bring you a review, Q&A, and giveaway all in one. If you don’t know Nancy from Glossed in Brooklyn (http://glossedinbrooklyn.com/), I definitely recommend checking her out. We both share a love for YÜLI Halcyon (my review and her review) and Pratima Neem Rose Sunscreen (my review and her review), and I live vicariously through her when she reviews brands like Sunday Riley, Glossier, Drunk Elephant, and Tatcha.
Nancy and I are each reviewing a product and doing a giveaway where one lucky, lucky winner will win both products. In each of our posts, we’re answering four questions to create a mini review of our picks. Check out the Q&A below and then *enter the giveaway* at the end of the post.
